The past few years I’ve sent out notes to random seniors tucked inside their photo orders so that when they open the package they get a surprise.
The note reads:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
– Mark Twain”
I used to include that quote in every email I sent. It’s inspired me to be who I am, not what everyone else expects of me. We can’t be special to the rest of the world if we aren’t first special to ourselves.
When someone asks me how to become a photographer or artist, the first thing I typically tell them is to find out who they are and then embrace it. Don’t be who you think everyone else wants you to be. The next thing I say is that if you know how amazing you are, the rest of the world will probably follow … So, I hope that whatever you do, wherever you are, you’re aiming to be noticed…not for what you do, but for everything you are.
The top image is of Molly and the bottom of Riana. Both will graduate next May and then, hopefully, make a difference in the world.
Addie…precious little Addie…full of smiles and giggles and all that other good stuff little girls are good at. I had the pleasure of photographing her as a newborn and then here again at a little more than 2 years old in Loose Park. Couldn’t have asked for a better day as it was the perfect temperature for running around chasing squirrels, of which she and I did quite often! When we weren’t chasing squirrels, we were playing in the rose garden or laying in leaves or making QUACK QUACK sounds with the ducks. Looking forward to the next time she plays in front of my camera…until then, here are a few sneak peeks!
The Williams kids – Evan, Lily and Grace. And GRACE is A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E! Loved photographing them at Gunn Park and then a secret location in FS. Enjoy!
Oh Sami….super cool Sami. We shot for around 3 hours and came away with a ton of killer images..including this one that was shot at one of my favorite hidden locations!
Welcome to the first ever blog post from Kenny Felt Photography. I’ve finally made the jump to working for myself as a portrait photographer. I love the feeling but at the same time I’m scared to death!
I couldn’t think of any better way to start this off than with a few photos of my own daughter. She’s 14 months old now and is the light of my life. I had the idea a few days ago of photographing her with Purple Baby, her stuffed animal/security blanket of sorts. I wanted her clutching it tight to show the connection she has with it, as she doesn’t sleep without it!
